OUR RESIDENTS LOVE US

Making the transition to Independent Living or Assisted Living can be challenging. The Brook has made every effort to ensure our residents have an experience above and beyond their expectations.

OUR MISSION

“To provide a retirement community focused on assisting residents in achieving the highest level of independence possible in an atmosphere of caring and promoting quality of life–not to mention making ‘fun’ a part of each and every day.”

“Dad stayed for a week for respite care. We couldn’t have been happier! The staff was very friendly and caring. They were very attentive to our requests and seemed to be genuinely happy to be there. The facility was spotlessly clean, right down to the kitchen! Meals were cheerfully served and looked appetizing. The staff was very attentive to the needs of the diners. We’ll definitely consider using their services again for respite care or long-term residency.”

“My Father-in-law is staying at the Brook. The room is just right and he has a nice view from his window. Staff appears to be very conscientious. He likes the food and the regular schedule. There are a lot of activities available for occupying the day.”

“Our family found The Brook of Newaygo experience for our dad very pleasant and worry-free. My dad was happy there and enjoyed and cared a great deal for the staff. The nurse often worked directly with dad’s doctor and his once a week home care nurse. We visited on a weekly basis and also found the staff above board and more than accommodating. His studio apartment was more than we hoped for and the entire building is beautiful and well cared for. The residents we spoke to when we stayed and shared a meal with dad we’re happy and content. The meal portions were more than sufficient and I found them appealing, and good as did my father.
I’m grateful for The Brook and their staff and highly recommend them. “

“I can’t thank enough to the founders of this great institution. We feel so fortunate and blessed to have found the Brook Retirement Home. Because of difficult health conditions my best friend, he has lived in the Cedar springs, Houghton Lake and now the Big Rapids Brook branch. Their excellent service and awesome, friendly and engaged staff are consistent among all the branches. They truly care about their residents. Great place to spend the golden years when assistance is needed. It is like a five star hotel with the warmth of a loving family. They have so many amenities and activities that residents can participate in.

The management at the Brook is outstanding. They are always catering to the particular needs of their residents. They continuously strive to better their service and they are always looking for new ideas to improve on what they do. Their personal touch and loving care makes it feel like home.”

“I am writing this letter to express my appreciation for the staff and management at your establishment located in Gaylord, Michigan.

My mother, Angelique, was a resident at that facility from February 2017 through December 2019. My mother has just recently passed in December and I know she would have wanted me to extend her appreciation and sincere thanks to everyone. Both of us felt that the girls at The Brook were like an extended family. I always felt comfortable knowing that she was in good hands and that the girls treated her with love and kindness.

Everyone, including the kitchen staff and Karen who cleaned my mom’s room every Thursday, were always kind, courteous, and thoughtful. They never treated my mom as if she was a burden, but just the opposite, like they were more than happy to help with whatever she needed.

I think it is important that the corporate office know that the staff and management at The Book of Gaylord go above and beyond that which would be expected, and that their superiors should be aware when they have such dedicated and excellent employees. I am amazed at the compassion and kindness that was given to my mother on a daily basis and I can only again say thank you for always being there for her.”

“We also had a loved one at The Brook of Gladwin, and I too would like the corporate office to know that they must be doing something right, as we never had a “off” day while we were there! Everyone should be commended for such a wonderful job that they do!!”

ONLINE REVIEWS

The facility is kept clean. The staff are kind, caring and professional.Highly recommend
Excellent 10 stars, not 5! Staff is a reflection of the manager, Natalie Krantz, who in a nutshell is a 1 in a million human being. Helpful in everyway. My mom was loved & cared for in a way that was impossible to do in her home. The staff is communicative and reassuring from the family's perspective, which is a stress reliever. I would urge you to bring your loved on to the Brook of Big Rapids.Thank you Natalie and staff!
We had heard so many great things about the Brook in Gaylord that when it was time to move our mother into assisted living, we came to check it out for ourselves. Diane showed us around and told us about all of the services provided. We were impressed! Then we met the manager, Andrew. He was so thorough and answered all of our questions. Finally, after moving mom in, we were surprised at the level of care and compassion that the girls taking care of her showed her, as well as her family! They were just wonderful and they felt like family from the start! I would highly recommend this place to my friends and family!
A couple years ago our dad asked us to help him find assisted care living. He hoped to stay local. I toured the facility with Brook program manager Ayme and later toured with dad. He liked the atmosphere right away. Our dad has always been very independent and competent. We knew the process of moving to assisted living might present challenges. From day one, every staff member showed the utmost respect, care, and consideration. Staff encouraged participation in activities but gave individuals space to make their own decisions. Every staff member has been amazing. Dad sends a special shoutout to Mary, Dani, Ayme, and Dawn (and many more!)Our dad has gotten so much healthier and happier since joining the Brook family. The Brook of Houghton Lake treat every resident as family. We appreciate beyond words each and every one of them. We couldn’t recommend them more. With greatest appreciation!
Mom moved in to a one bedroom independent apartment in Gaylord August 2018. She immediately made several friends and began taking part in a few activities. As the years passed her health began to decline so a move to the assisted living side was necessary. She was able to still visit with her same friends and partake in some of the same activities (and add several more), all while getting the assistance she required. The staff, well they are more than staff - they become a part of your family! Many thanks to Andrew and family for taking care of mom!
Our Gigi has been at The Brook 6 months now. The facility is beautiful. The daily activities and care team have eased her adjustment to an assisted living facility and continue to enrich her days. We are so thankful to have such a nice facility in Newaygo!
The Gladwin Brook has been fantastic for my mother Billie. She loves it there. She enjoys the wonderful treatment from your team, the food, games, physical therapy and having her hair done every week. Thanks to Christen for going the extra mile every time we've asked. Thank you from the Tarzwell Boy's Rod, Randy & Scott
After having dealt with multiple care facilities for my Mom-in-law, my expectations for The Brook were tainted by over promising, under performing sales pitches that I had heard by the others. We initially signed Dad on because their rates were the least expensive option for full memory care. I am happy to report that Dad was given excellent care and The Brook was GREAT to deal with. Their staff was kind and courteous to us and Dad. Their communication was excellent when issues arose. The food was above average for institutional food. (You can’t please everyone with every meal). The manager Michelle was always willing to listen and help whenever she could. Thank you Brook for making my Dads last days as comfortable as possible.
We are proud to have this wonderful independent living and retirement community as part of our Chamber family. Their team consistently goes above and beyond to create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for their residents. Every visit leaves us impressed by the level of care, the cleanliness of the facility, and the genuine warmth shown by the staff. They offer a true sense of community providing thoughtful activities, meaningful social opportunities, and the kind of attention that makes residents feel right at home. Their dedication to quality of life is obvious in everything they do.We are grateful to have them in our area and highly recommend their services to anyone seeking a supportive, vibrant, and well-run independent living option. Their commitment to their residents and to our community as a whole is exceptional.
Most amazing place to put a loved one. Staff are fantastic. The manager Natalie Krantz is attentive to needs of residents 24/7. Always educating and training staff and making sure they are giving their best. Natalie is a true leader to staff, people love to work there and the residents adore her. When a facility is run with a manager who is that committed to both, it's a success. When the manager will do any job needed when short staffed and not complain that's a leader. Natalie is a advocate for residents and staff. I've witnessed her walking out the door after working 15 hours and turning around going right back to answer questions for residents and staff regardless if it takes 1 hour or 3. Natalie always puts resident needs first and treats them all with utmost respect. Natalie is an absolute rare find for running this facility and staff. All 15 of the Brooks should model after hers. The owners are wonderful people they are constantly checking facilities to make sure they are run efficiently and listen to staff and residents if they should have a problem. If your hesitant about putting a loved one in a retirement facility, don't be. This is the one you want
Very clean staffed fully memory care is amazing smells fresh at all times great food for residents and always clean clothes and rooms
My mom lived at the BrookFor the last few months of her life. The staff were always very kind and caring. They spent time with her and encouraged her to engage with the other residents without pushing her. Management (Karen) was super easy to work with and made it a pretty seamless transition for all of us. The facility was clean and never smelled bad like a lot of assisted living facilities do.
My mother moved into the Brook in Gladwin the first part of May. I waited to give this review so that I could see if the exceptional welcome and care she initially received continued, and I am so pleased that it has. The staff continues to be caring, thorough and timely, trustworthy, and loving to my mother. This certainly was a game changer for her as she now has endless activity and socialization opportunities, nutritious meals, a room that fits her needs, and 24 hour care. I wholeheartedly recommend this facility!
My father in law moved into the Brook in Boyne City this year. He is in the independent wing, where he still has his independence to do his own laundry and come and go as he pleases, but doesn't have the upkeep of a house. They clean for him every other week which he really enjoys. He also likes the dinners they serve in the dining room. They are so kind and efficient when ever we ask for anything additional. I highly recommend the Brook.
Our family loves the size of the Brook of Boyne City. It's small size assures the care my parents need. The staff is responsive whenever they need anything and always know my name whenever I visit.
My parents moved into the Brook in Boyne City in May. They are enjoying their new home. Kim and the other staff, along with their new neighbors, have made them feel welcome. Chef Scott makes wonderful meals, and there have been many fun activities and adventures for them to take part in. The Brook Boyne City is a great place to live.
Prefect place for my mother. All the staff treat my mother like she is family. Andrew is my mother’s super hero , if all else fails ask Andrew! Diane is my favorite but sister and brothers like Faith, Sonya, Snooki ( in the kitchen) and others.
My brother has been at The Brook of Newaygo for several months. Im there 5 days out of the week. Karen, The Property Manager is wonderful and takes time to talk and get to know the patients. Clean facility. This is not a nursing home, it's a retirement facility. They all have been very kind to my brother and helpful. My opinion is quality help is very hard to find and retain! I feel at peace knowing my brother lives there.
The Brook is an amazing residence for those who need assisted living or the security of independent living. I can't imagine better care for my mother, who is in assisted living. The entire staff makes this so. It starts with something as basic as housekeeping. Not only does the building look clean, it smells clean, a task that isn't easy to accomplish in an assisted care faculty. From there I move on to the support staff like the activity coordinator and the kitchen staff. They know all the residents by name and work hard to accommodate their needs and personal preferences. However, the rockstars are the care givers/attendants. They are kind, patient and willing to do the dirty work and heavy lifting, both literally and figuratively. They keep the family informed, and work with the family and support services like hospice and in home health care. I simply can't say enough good about them. The facility manager/director is a leader by example who sees every job as her responsibility (as in "the buck stops here"). She does all this without micromanaging. She is simply one of the team.If a person is looking for a home for themselves or a family member the Brook is a wonderful choice.
The Brook of Cheboygan is a wonderful place. The building and grounds are well-kept and beautiful. But the heart and soul of this building is the wonderful, caring, and loving staff - every single one of them - in all departments. My mom felt at home there so quickly due the kindness she was shown. She is pleased with her meals and looks forward to time spent in the dining room with friends and staff. Everyone at the Brook treats Mom like she is family. They keep me well-informed about her care and needs which takes much worry from me. Moving Mom into the Brook has proven to be the absolute best decision we could make. We are so grateful and blessed to be a part of the Brook family in Cheboygan.
My dad was a resident in the Assisted Living section at The Brook of Big Rapids. He was wonderfully cared for by attentive staff who were genuinely compassionate as they provided for his needs. The facility was clean, well-maintained, and offered a home-like feel. Dad loved the good tasting food while enjoying his meal in the dining room with long term friends as well as new found friends. It is obvious that the staff works intentionally to help residents form meaningful relationships and develop a sense of community, often arranging for residents to eat or engage in an activity together.Natalie is an exceptional manager who is invested and involved in every aspect of The Brook, both organizationally and relationally. She and her staff provided the personal touch that enabled my Dad to feel right at home in this residence. My brother and I are thankful for the time our dad was able to live here. We wholeheartedly recommend The Brook for anyone seeking independent or assisted living for their loved one.
Mary Speer, Jodi in the kitchen, Amy the director and so many more were so good to my mother-in-law when she was at the Brook for her final years of her life!!
My mom was here and got displaced by a fire in her wing. I told the girls I wanted her back as soon as possible. During the time that she was else where Mary and Jodi would go and visit mom. I was so happy when mom got to come back and meet Amy the director and her son gunner. He liked visiting with my mom too. My mom has passed away since but I still like to visit and keep in touch with my girls at the Brook they are part of our family! I have say that all of the staff that I had pleasure of meeting treated me and my mom with the best care. I also have to say I made friends with some residents that blessed my memories of good discussions
I have the pleasure of knowing the activities coordinator and I know she is always looking for ways to enrich the lives of the residents! Our family also had the pleasure of trick or treating at The Brook of Houghton Lake last Halloween. The residents were all smiles as they enjoyed the littles and passed out candy!
I am so thankful for everyone at the Brook of Houghton Lake!! My Grandparent were there and a good friend of mine resided there for 2 years before he passed!! Can’t say enough about them and the love they showed for all of us and the people the reside there!! Thanks everyone!!!
Grateful for their support. Always willing to help make a difference in their community. Thank you for your event sponsorship.
Michelle and Charlie are wonderful to work with they are very personable and kind and understanding to your situation they will do anything in their power that they know how to do to help a resident coming in and maintaining their integrity
I feel like my mom is in a safe and caring environment at the Brook of Gladwin. The newest manager is steering the ship well.
Over the last two years several changes in managers had resulted in a lack of any consistency and leadership that became a problem for the facility, employees and residents. The new manager, Christen, has changed all of that. Things have improved greatly with her leadership and continue to do so. With this change and improvement I would recommend this facility to everyone.
Highest praises go to the management and staff of The Brook of Big Rapids. My mother-in-law was the first resident 10 years ago. She started as an independent resident and gradually needed more assistance until she needed full assistance. The care she received was exceptional. She was treated with utmost compassion and professionalism. The management, staff and fellow residents became her extended family. Because of her experiences my parents have now made The Brook their home. Thank you to The Brook of Big Rapids for caring for our families!
My mom lived at the Brook in Gladwin. Our family loved everything about the place . She totally made the Brook her home. Dining with friends, activities, exercising, special events. The staff was helpful and attentive. Our family would go have a movie day, play pool, have family dinners.. they were always welcoming to our gang .
My dad moved in here from South Dakota during the height of Covid, and we were so very fortunate that they had a place for him! The Brook of Cheboygan is so clean, friendly, and helpful, with marvelous staff members. I highly recommend the Brook of Cheboygan and I’m so happy to have this wonderful facility in our community!
The Brook of Gladwin in a great place! The staff is truly compassionate about the residents and so helpful! The leadership is outstanding and very willing to listen to any concerns the residents or families may have. The Brook of Gladwin comes highly recommended to any senior looking for independent or assisted living!
We visited & researched at least 7 assisted livings for our parents. The Brook of Gladwin staff called residents by name and demonstrated care from the beginning. In the 3 years our parents have lived there, staff has consistently showed up in times of challenge as their needs shift helping us with options. We are also caring for extended family in care centers in two western states. The quality of care and value at the Brook of Gladwin supersedes the other places. Christen’s leadership sets the tone and we are deeply appreciative.Gene & Nicole Martens
My parents have lived at The Brook for over 3 yrs. My siblings and myself checked out 7 other facilities. The Brook is clean, the staff is amazing and whenever we have a “parent situation “ or a decline in their health, we are supported by this well organized community. Our family is extremely grateful and happy that our parents live in a clean environment. The food is delicious and healthy
Hello. I am a retired clinical psychologist. Over the course of my fifty year career, I had direct and indirect experiences with numerous medical, psychiatric, and geriatric treatment facilities throughout Michigan. My mother, at age 96, has been a resident at The Brook in Gladwin for over a year. We consider ourselves very fortunate and blessed to have her under their care. They are without peer and the best in comparison with all settings I have experienced.Administration and staff have been very responsive to my mother's changing conditions. Communication has been prompt and effective. The staff has been consistently pleasant and professional. I feel that many staff members treat my mother as part of their own families. The setting of the Brook is very comfortable with an ambience more expected of a nice apartment setting. I would add that they also provide a welcoming atmosphere for myself, my wife, our dog, extended family and many caring friends.Importantly, my mother tells she likes living at The Brook and feels very safe under their care. She also praises the food, dining experience, and access to numerous activities.I fully endorse The Brook of Gladwin and would recommend it to anyone looking for excellent care.
The Brook in Gladwin has been a great move for my Mom. She was hesitant to move for a long time, but has thoroughly enjoyed her new environment. She can choose just how social she would like to be every day. She has found new Euchre players and can relax in her own apartment whenever she wants. The management and staff have been great, and I can recommend the Brook of Gladwin to anyone interested.Bob Van Deventer
Huge shout out to the employees at the Brooke of Gladwin for going above and beyond to care for my mother. I appreciate you all so much! Not for just attending to her basic needs but truly showing how much you really care ❤️
I have found the staff to be exremely caring and helpful for my father. He is happy there and I feel I can trust their care. It’s always a joy to walk into the joyful atmosphere! They are so good at always keeping me informed of what’s happening with Dad and making adjustments as his needs increase. I am truly blessed to have such a caring facility nearby where I can visit him often.
As my mom transitions into assisted living we could not be more thankful for Christen, the manager of The Brook. Her compassion and kindness for people is truly a blessing. She has gone above and beyond helping us through this process. What was a difficult and unnerving decision soon became a positive and uplifting experience. We can not thank her enough for all her help.
I cannot say enough about the wonderful experience my family and I have had at The Brook retirement community in Gaylord. From the moment we stepped through the doors, it felt like a true home, and this warmth continues to resonate throughout the facility. The staff at The Brook are nothing short of fabulous. The Director, Andrew, is exceptional. Diane, the office manager is SO friendly & welcoming. Diane, Sierra, Salvie, Alysa, to name a few, are beyond AMAZING with their clients ♥️They are not only professional but also extremely friendly and cheerful. Their attentiveness to the residents is truly remarkable and makes all the difference in creating a nurturing environment. It’s comforting to know that my parents are in such caring hands. The food is excellent, with a variety of delicious options that cater to different tastes. Each meal feels like a dining experience, which adds to the overall atmosphere of comfort and community. The energy in The Brook is vibrant and engaging, filled with a variety of activities that keep everyone involved and active. Whether it’s social events, exercise classes, or hobby clubs, there’s always something happening that encourages both socialization and fun.The facilities and grounds are beautiful and well-maintained, providing a serene environment for residents to enjoy. The location is also convenient, making it easy for family visits and outings.Overall, The Brook has exceeded our expectations in every way. It's reassuring to know my parents are happy and well-cared-for in such a lovely community, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a retirement community that feels like home.
The manager is excellent!!!Kristen is fabulousCaring / informative/ excellent to with!
I recently toured The Brook of Houghton Lake with Ayme, a registered nurse there, and she was absolutely wonderful. From the start, she was warm, friendly, and easy to talk to—she made the whole experience comfortable and informative. The environment at The Brook felt peaceful, clean, and welcoming. It’s clear that the staff really cares about the people who live there. Everyone I came across seemed kind, attentive, and happy to be part of the community.Ayme made a great impression and really represents the heart of what makes The Brook feel like a great place for senior living. I left feeling confident that it’s a place where people are truly cared for.
The staff treated my mom like family. They bought her slippers and special treats during the holidays. The kindness and compassion were extraordinary. Thank you so very much.
I cannot say enough good things about the Brook of Cedar Springs. My mother in law has been a resident of the Brook since they first opened, and we've been incredibly happy with the cares she has received. The staff is absolutely wonderful, compassionate, attentive and always going above and beyond. The manager, Michelle is equally impressive, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and that any concerns are addressed promptly. It is clear that they prioritize the well being of the residents and Maintain a warm, welcoming atmosphere .Overall, the care at The Brook of Cedar Springs has been outstanding, and we feel so fortunate to have found such a great place for mom.Thank you, Michelle and staff.
My mom has been at The Brook for a few years now and have never had any issues. The staff is always caring and helpful. I rest easy knowing my mom is in the capable hands of the wonderful staff.
One of the reasons I came to The Brook of the staff here it is because of Natalie she has helped me from day one in the past six months. I've had a lot of issues unfortunately health issues and she was able to help me. Even if it's to give a hug. She's always friendly to everybody in the building here goes out of her way to talk to themShe's gone above and beyond the duty in so many ways.
My 92 year old dad (w/ moderate alzhemiers) & us kids are thrilled with the care dad gets here. We love the fact that it is staffed with very kind, compassionate & helpful people. The facility is well maintained & beautiful. This is our 2nd experience with assisted living homes. Mom was at another nice facility. However, this facility has a better price, food quality, less staff turnover & very happy residents & family members in comparison to what mom had at the place she was at. Dad’s response to living here: “ If you can’t live in your own home anymore this is the next best place.” God is good & dad is happy…that means everything to us2/26/25 Dad passed on to heaven. The care he & we got in his week of passing was outstanding! Everyone was so attentive to dad’s needs & took wonderful care of us as well. He was only there just over 3 months but our family has experienced such close bonds with the staff in that short time. Thank you Karen Ball, along your amazing, loving & compassionate staff! We are so truly thankful that dad had all of you in his life to love on him & tenderly care for him. God bless you all for blessing us so richly.
My parents have been living at The Brook for almost 2 years. It is a beautiful, well maintained facility. The culture is one of patience and caring. The Brook offers many opportunities for fun events and group travel. If someone is just a homebody, it is still a great place to be. The current facility manager, Karen, and staff (especially nurse, Chris and Nancy) have gone out of their way to help my parents during difficult and transitional times. The Brook has been helpful connecting us with appropriate agencies and medical. I am very happy with them. I, myself, would live there(if I needed assisted living). My grandkids LOVE visiting their great grandparents at The Brook...that ALONE speaks volumes.
Our family visited the Brook on Big Rapids. A very nice facility with great staff. Unfortunately there is no room at the inn. We are now on the wait list. Which is indeterminate.*** Dad is now happily at the Brook. Wait list only weeks. Very satisfied with caring process.
Care of a parent in declining health is tough. Roles are reversed, the level of decline is constantly changing and difficult to discern, and feelings of guilt and inadequacy are prevalent. The sale of a heritage home and sibling disputes add to the stress and self-doubt.Placing Mom at the Brook in Cheboygan was a difficult decision. 24-hour homecare or living fulltime with a child were tried or considered but eventually each fell short. Not in spirit or love but in the practicality of the care required. Finding the Brook was a Godsend. The staff is exceptional. Caring, attentive and loving. From Andrea, through Denise and to Mariah and others on the direct care team to the folks in the kitchen, they embraced Mom as their own. They served her needs fully and tenderly and did so with a smile and a touch. Difficult decisions were addressed thoughtfully and carefully but always timely and with Mom’s best interest at the core.Mom had friends at the Brook. People she enjoyed who also enjoyed her. Lovely people with interesting backgrounds and stories to tell. Some at her stage of life, others much earlier in the aging process. The facility is beautiful and functional. Her room was comfortable and apartment-like. Mom was able to easily watch the bird feeders and other outside activity. The inside of the building, with its Tuscan flavor and whimsy (like the portraits in the public bathrooms), creates a warm and welcoming, rather than institutional, aura.Last days can be hard. I am glad Mom spent hers with her loving family and the gracious, caring staff at the Brook in Cheboygan.
The staff at The Brook of Cedar Springs is amazing. They treated my Mom with love and kindness and went above and beyond to care for her during her time there. They were so supportive of our entire family, especially when we were going through the difficult end of life stage. I can't imagine that a more caring team could be found anywhere else.
Michelle and staff are amazing....so good to know same staff still there after a year
It was definitely one of our top 2 choices. It really came down to availability. Premises were lovely and especially clean. Staff was so friendly. We really could see our loved ones happily living there and more importantly so could they.
The Brook of Cheboygan is truly an outstanding community! The staff genuinely cares for the residents and their families, going above and beyond to ensure everyone feels supported, valued, and at home. The warm and welcoming atmosphere is immediately noticeable, and it's clear that each person is treated with respect and kindness. The facility itself is well-maintained, clean, and thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of its residents. The activities and amenities provided are fantastic, keeping everyone engaged and active, while also fostering a sense of community. We couldn’t be happier with the level of care and compassion shown at The Brook of Cheboygan. It’s a place where you can feel confident your loved ones are not only well cared for but truly thriving. Highly recommend!
I have lived at the Brook for 5 years, come May. My main reason for moving here is it is a safe place to live. The staff from the main office to the aids try to make us as comfortable as possible.
The care is great. Beautiful and well kept. Good is superb. Donna is very happy in her studio.
My in-laws have been here 6 months and they are watched over and very happy with their apartment (independent living). Staff are friendly and helpful. All the other residents are always out and about.
My experience with The Brook has been exceptional. The entire staff is helpful, understanding, knowledgeable, and, above all, kind. If you’re searching for a “home” for your loved one where you can be confident they will receive excellent care and compassion, this is the place for you.
The Brook of Boyne City is such a beautiful place, and it's staff is attentive, caring, and very patient. We are so grateful to them for their wonderful care of our loved one. She also loves the food! I definitely recommend The Brook!
Very Good!
The care that my father-in-law received from the staff at The Brook of Cedar Springs was wonderful. He loved them all and we couldn’t have asked for a better place for him to spend his final years. I highly recommend The Brook.
My mother in law has been at The Brook at least Five years now. The staff has taken very good care of mom and her needs and I know they will continue to give her the care and love she needs. I trust the staff with her care completely. I live a few hours from her so it is important to have a place you trust with your family members care. I would definitely recommend the Brook of Gladwin to others who live within the vicinity of this community. Blessings-Linda
My mother in law was at the Brook for 3 years and loved all the staff. My mother is now at the Brook and has been for over 4 years. The staff are wonderful.
We have experience at 2 different locations and although they are different much is the same, specifically the kind, caring caregivers. Both of my parents were well taken care of until my mom passed and then when my Dad moved alone, he too has been well looked after. I have confidence and comfort that he is safe and sound!
My very good friend is at the Brook. She loves it there. Everyone is very caring and so good to her. They all deserve gold stars. It is a very clean and inviting home. Thank all of you for the excellent care.
I think this is the perfect place for my mother to live even though she complains about EVERYTHING. She goes on all their outings and seems to enjoy the places they visit. She's not real big on the food, however she does like the happy hour on Saturdays.Keep doing what you are doing.....
Title: Exceptional Care and Comfort for My Loved OneI am truly impressed with the level of care and attention provided by The Brook of Cedar Springs. We felt welcomed and reassured that we had made the right decision for our loved one. The staff is compassionate, attentive, and always available to meet the needs of the residents, no matter how big or small. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and has a warm, home-like atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the common areas are perfect for socializing and relaxing. I also appreciate the variety of activities offered to keep residents engaged and active—whether it’s exercise classes, arts and crafts, or social events. Most importantly, the manager, nursing and caregivers work closely with families to ensure that any health concerns are addressed promptly. It’s a relief knowing that my loved one is in such capable hands.I wholeheartedly recommend The Brook of Cedar Springs to anyone looking for a caring, professional, and supportive environment for their loved one. It has given our family peace of mind knowing that our loved one is happy, safe, and well-cared for.
Mom has lived at The Brook around 4 yrs. Their care keeps growing stronger as her dementia goes into stronger levels. There is so much love and positive energy in this place. I am so glad Mom has her Brook family ❤️
The Brook of Big Rapids has great staff that work together as a team. The love the way staff has made residents feel like family.
Both my mom and dad were in Memory Care at the Brook. Lacey and her ENTIRE staff are dedicated, compassionate, and attentive! Mom passed away in January and dad passed away in May. I’m so blessed that they were surrounded by such wonderful, caring people during this time. If you are seeking placement for a loved one, I highly recommend the Brook of Grayling!! We spent a lot of time at The Brook, and I feel that we will always have our Brook family!
Our family couldn’t have been more appreciative of Lacy, Carol and Miranda. Who helped us understand what dad’s brain was going through. The entire staff is upbeat and very perceptive of the needs of the community at the Brook. The facilities are always clean and a very comfortable environment. The memory care facility is wonderful and the residents seem happy in their own way. The assisted living apartments are perfect size and some have a patio. Our dad was able to take walks on his good days and even helped with some other things around the facility. Our dad has moved back home now and none of that is related to the care he received. If you have a parent with dementia you understand the struggles this disease puts you through. We cannot say enough about everyone that works there and the compassion they have for their residents. If you are looking for a home away from home for your parent(s) then call Lacy because she made all the worries and anxiety of moving dad into assisted living a pleasurable experience.
Ayme and the staff are some of the most caring and compassionate people I have ever met. They go above and beyond for the residents and their families. From the day mom moved in until her passing the care and support was exceptional. The support they gave our family during moms final days was heartfelt and helped make an emotional time easier. I highly recommend if you are looking for a clean, caring, friendly place for yourself or a loved one. May God bless each of them richly.
Very Happy with the StaffExcellent Care for My HusbandVery Compassionate Staff
Very caring staff and a wonderful group of residents.
The Manager and Her Staff ,will Treat Your Family Like Their Family... They Go Above And Beyond Caring, they put their Hearts On It...Thumbs Up!!!!!!!!!
The staff is very helpful with mom's need and always pleasant to work with.
The staff at The Brook of Gladwin are amazing! My parents have lived there for three years and as their needs have changed, the staff have consistently taken great care of them. My dad passed away in January and mom, who is now alone for the first time in 65 years, is suffering from dementia but I never worry about her because I know the staff truly cares about her and her wellbeing. This is something for which I will never be able to thank them enough.
My Dad has been living there for almost a year, and we're very happy with our decision to move him there. A nice facility with friendly and caring staff.
My mother is residing in the independent living wing of The Brook of Big Rapids. She likes having her own place without having to deal with maintenance or snow! She has made lots of friends and can do her daily walks safely and with companions. I like that she is safe and can keep her independence for as long as possible.
My mother in law has been at the Brook for 4 plus years. They have taken care of her needs for a long time now. The staff have been so kind to her and helpful, and hospice as well. She moved recently to a room better fit for her needs and the staff moved her over, and put her belongings in her new place with great respect for mom and her belongings she cherished around her. They cleaned up her old apartment as well, which I greatly appreciated all the work they all did to transition mom to new room comfortably. This would be a great place for young adults to work if you enjoy working with the elderly. It is a clean environment and friendly people around you as well. All staff are doing their best daily to make sure everyone is well cared for. Thank You for your caring hearts!!!
Staff is very friendly. The facility is great. The location is also very nice.
We love this place. Staff, activities, food, everything. Could not have found a better place for mom!
We were in need of a memory care unit so we toured The Brook of Grayling. From the time we walked in you could see how caring the staff was. The Manager was easy to speak with and made our transition easy. We moved Mom in and were happy to see how caring and attentive the staff was to the residents. The staff continued to be great until Mom passed making sure that we were also taken care of. I have never seen a staff that is also a great team helping each other when ever needed. We grew so close to staff and residents that we continue to visit a couple of days a week. I highly recommend this facility for anybody in need of a memory care unit.
The facility and staff at The Brook of Boyne City are wonderful. The manager is especially helpful and attentive to the resident's needs.
The Brook of Grayling was absolutely amazing with my mom in memory care. The staff is incredible! I have never met a more caring, compassionate group of ladies! They went above and beyond in every way possible. Mom ended up on hospice and they were there every step of the way to make sure she was okay and taking care of us as well. I highly recommend The Brook. We learned to love the staff and residents so much that after mom passed away we still continue to visit a few days a week. Thank you to everyone who took care of mom. She truly loved you all! You will all always hold a special place in my heart!
We had two family members living at The Brook of Cedar Springs. They loved the staff, the food, the activities and really enjoyed interacting with the other residents.
I WOULD LIKE TO TELL EVERYONE THE BROOK AT HOUGHTON LAKE DESERVES 10 STARS. IT IS VERY CLEAN, EXPERTLY MANANGED BY AYME WHO'S CALMNESS AND COMPASSION ARE SHARED BY EVERYONE WHO WORKS THERE. IT ALL TOGETHER MADE THE 2 MONTHS MY WIFE LIVED THERE BEFORE HER PASSING COMFORTABLE AND HEAVEN ON EARTH. COULD NOT HAVE FOUND A BETTER PLACE. GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERYONE OF THEM. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FACILTY TO ANYONE SEEKING ASSISTED LIVING, FRIENDSHIP, AND QUALITY OF LIFE.
My mom has been at the Brook of Gaylord for 4 years now and we are very happy with the experience. The nurse aides are caring. The building is clean and very well furnished. The manager in charge, Bree, is AWESOME. If there is an issue with my mom Bree calls immediately. Mom had a cat for a while that just didn't work out. Bree adopted it! My only concern is the turnover of nurse aides. I'd assume other places are paying more money and it's easy for them to jump ship for more pay - I sure can't blame them. Overall, great place I'd highly recommend.
The Brook of Cheboygan did an excellent job taking care of my loved one. My grandmother was a resident for a few years in their assisted living facility until recently when she passed. She had a nice 1 bedroom apartment with a kitchenette that was a perfect amount of space for her. She was able to have her bed, dresser, dollhouse, and a few other pieces of furniture from home, which really helped make it feel like home. The staff are overall excellent and Andrea and the front office team do an exceptional job managing the facility. The facility has a limited number of rooms so residents are known by name and will never feel like they are a number.
I have an aunt that stays here. Everything is spotless, the staff are so friendly. Recently they've done some fun themes with the residents such as western day, and prom night. The food is always great and it's always so nice to see such happy people both staff and residents.
The best place to take your loved ones
My grandmother is living at this facility in Big Rapids, and her and I have had the best experience with the facility and staff here. It is a such a warm and welcoming environment. Highly recommended!
Mom was a resident at The Brook of Cedar Springs for almost six months. We found the staff to be very conscientious and took good care of Mom. I found every person of the staff to give the residents interest top priority. I would recommend this facility to other people looking for a place for their loved one…
I highly recommend The Brook of Cedar Springs. Every time I visit the facility is clean, staff friendly and welcoming! The Manager, Michelle, makes you feel like family! The residents are happy and involved in activities! A great place!
Amazing people work here. Great staff and always so pretty inside.
Beautiful building housekeeping does a beautiful job keeping it cleaned. All the staff is always friendly when I come in. Always welcoming and happy to help you find who you are looking for. The residents are always happy and well cared for.I love seeing all the post on Facebook about the community coming in and making sure the residents feel as they are still a part of the community. My daughter can't wait to volunteer here and maybe eventually get her first job there. She loves visiting with already when we are are there.Would recommend to everyone.
I wouldn’t trust my great grandmother with anyone else! I know she’s always in the best hands with the girls there. ❤️
The staff and manager take pride in there jobs. They are amazing. There needs to be more people like this in the world. When visiting there everyone is so nice and the residents are happy and well taken care of.
The Brook of Grayling is an amazing retirement place for your loved ones! The staff and management are amazing! I found their place very welcoming, clean, and comforting! If your looking for the right place for your loved one go check it out you won't be disappointed! 🙂
This Place Cares more for The Person and The Needs of the Person more than anywhere I Have Ever Seen.. The Staff and Manager Steps Up Above and Beyond... I Would Put This Place On Top Of The List Of Places Where A Loved One Would Be Cared for like Family
We visit from Nebraska several times a year. We are very pleased with the care at The Brook!
I am very thankful to all of the staff at The Brook of Cheboygan. They have given their all during this difficult time of Covid-19. I can rest at night knowing my mother is in good hands.
This is a wonderful place and I would highly recommend you have your parents or grandparents come live at The Brook of Houghton Lake They have a beautiful facility with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I have never seen a staff try so hard to be respectful, kind and accommodating to everyone.
The facilities and the staff at The Brook of Houghton Lake are top notch. The caring & compassionate team there are making a very difficult time in our lives as easy as it possibly can be. It is a great comfort to know that our loved one is in a safe & comfortable environment.
This is a clean facility with kind employees. We hope as the pandemic eases up more activities and "field trips" will take place, but when it comes to caring for their residents they do well.
The Brook seems to be doing a good job taking care of our Mom. The only thing I'd like to see improve is the quality of the food and making sure it get to the residents HOT.
My parents have been at the Brook for a year now. Food is good, there is some entertainment. Wish they did outings. Staff is stable and caring. Diana has this place running like a well oiled machine!
I am enjoying my time here, meeting new people every day. The space is clean & and adequate.
Best of the practically-priced retirement homes with available/optional amenities, and various organized activities. You can certainly spend more $$$ than the Brook, but you shouldn't. Good people, good service.
My mother has been in the Brook of Big Rapids for over 3 years...IT IS AMAZING PLACE!!! The staff is the best!!!
My mother lived at the Brook for over 8 years. Started in the independent wing and transitioned to assisted living. She loved living there because of the compassionate, wonderful staff. She felt it was her home and all her children felt the same way.
Awesome Staff and facility with top notch care for their residents and guests! Highly Recommended.
I have 2 very special friends at the Brook. One has been there 8 months and the other only a week and a half. I couldn’t be happier with the care they are receiving. All of the staff are kind and compassionate - and I have yet to meet a staff member without a great sense of humor! It’s a blessing to know that they are in a safe environment.
My mother loves living at the Brook!
The staff bend over backwards to accommodate patients needs and meet the patients at were they are in the diseases process
My mother in law spent a couple years in the memory care unit. In December we received the call that it was time for hospice. I came from out of state. The staff graciously opened a back door to let me in with her, even though Covid restrictions were in place. They allowed me to stay with her, brought food to me and frequently asked if I needed anything while taking wonderful care of my mother in law. When she died, the staff did everything they could to assist me from getting boxes for me to pack things to clearing a pathway for me to get to the parking lot and 2 staff members went out and cleared the snow off of my car! When I asked who did it, they just said "We figured it was the last thing you needed to be doing". I felt so blessed by these staff members who went above and beyond.
Great family environment!
The Brook provided personalized care for my Mother throughout her end of life journey. I could not have asked for a more loving environment for Mom as she passed on from this earth. The Staff at The Brook works diligently to ensure each resident is well cared for physically, mentally, and emotionally. Thank you again to each and every care giver at The Brook. By providing outstanding care for our Mother you gave her family peace of mind and that is priceless.
The Brook has one housekeeper for the entire building! She does an excellent job keeping the resident rooms clean with not enough credit!
This facility has the kindest employees who treat everyone like family! Everything is so clean and nice!
My mom has been there pretty much since they opened. The Brook is a very nice place for her to be. Like with ANY business, there are always ups and downs for everyone, residents, staff, etc.but I have not heard of anything drastic going on or anyone being mistreated. Before COVID I spent lots of time with my mom there, days at a time, as well as talking and playing card games with some of the other residents and was always treated very well by the staff. Mom is happy there and really enjoys many of the staff members.
I wanted to thank Pam Wilcox and all the staff at The Brook of Houghton Lake for their exceptional care of their residents during this past year. I wanted to congratulate everyone at The Brook for stayingCOVID free this year! It has been challenging for staff and residents and their family and friends but their conscientiousness has paid off. Residents and staff have been able to get their first vaccinations and soon will get their second shots. I have witnessed the compassion the residents have received from staff doing extra for the residents during this pandemic and am very impressed by them all.
The Brook of Newaygo is home for my Dad. The staff goes above and beyond to care for him. I appreciate them SO much!
The Brook of Big Rapids is top notch for your family's needs. They are very personable, professional, caring and attentive to residents and their families. I highly recommend!
the brook is a perfect place for my grandma
The Brook in Big Rapids has met and exceeded my desires for safe and personal care for my 98 yo father. The staff embrace him as family.Sara is doing an amazing job leading this team. We are very blessed to be apart of their family. We came on Feb 7 th this year and COVID struck our homeland. I don’t know how we would have survived without their safe and personal care.Thank you❤️🌹❣️
The Brook of Big Rapids has a fantastic work team! Each member of the team puts 100 percent into the work and attitude everyday they work. Each team member comes into work with a smile and positive attitude each day!
Great staff. Our father is a resident and they take very good care of him and everyone else. Would recommend this retirement facility to anyone.
Great place! Staff is great, very nice ! The place itself it just beautiful! Very clean and welcoming.
Wonderful staff! My dad lived at The Brook of Gladwin for approximately 5 years. His time there was very enjoyable. During the Covid restrictions, my dad passed away. The staff was so good to him and I during his passing. They were very attentive and compassionate despite the restrictions. Carla Terrill
I would absolutely refer my family and friends to this facility, not only does the staff go above and beyond to give the residents the care they need and deserve, they care about each and every resident as if they are family. The facility is clean and beautiful and offers many different things for the residents such as a library, activities room, pool table, and much more. Covid has definitely made things very difficult for all but The Brook and staff continues to do as much as possible to give the residents quality of life.
My mom lived at the Brook for over 3 years. She received wonderful care from the staff, who I believe truly loved her. I cannot thank Lisa and all the staff that cared for her enough. Excellent care, great facility, fun activities and great staff!
My experience with the employees and my interaction with the residents is phenomenal! They care for the residents as their own family and keep them happy through this time of uncertainty. I would highly recommend this facility for anyone looking for a place to find a loved one to live 🙂
Amazing residents, Very respectful, hardworking staff. Definitely recommend!
Not only a beautiful and clean building but most importantly the care givers love and take wonderful care of the residents. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I would like to compliment Pam and the entire staff at The Brook of Houghton Lake. I have observed how they all work so well together and with such kindness to all the residence and their families. I feel fortunate to have this great facility with such positive staff in our community. I appreciate their patience and especially the respect they show to every resident. Thank you to the whole team for working through the challenges of Covid 19 and keeping a happy atmosphere for everyone.
The Brook of Big Rapids has caring and amazing staff. They go out of their way to make sure everyone is well taken care of and all the residents needs are met. The facility is very clean, bright, cheerful. I would recommend this beautiful place for your loved one.
Came to visit an old friend who became forgetful. We found her well cared for and as happy as you can be in her condition. The place was clean, spacious and well staffed. If ever I get old, I would want to come to a place like this.
Very nice and caring people work here. I wish my parents could afford to live in an assisted living facility, if they could this is where they would choose to go. The price is actually on the lower side of good facilities! Would be well worth the money!
Good price and good care.
Dad stayed for a week for respite care. We’ll definitely consider using their services again for respite care or long-term residency.
I can’t thank enough to the founders of this great institution. They have so many amenities and activities that residents can participate in.The management at the Brook is outstanding. They are always catering to the particular needs of their residents. They continuously strive to better their service and they are always looking for new ideas to improve on what they do. Their personal touch and loving care makes it feel like home.
My grandma loves living here! She has a nice sized room and a beautiful view. There are tons of activities throughout the week for her engage in. The only complaint is the food. We have been in many other retirement/assisted living homes with great food and we are hoping the brook will step up their game in this department!
Mom loves her apartment here
My Father-in-law is staying at the Brook. The room is just right and he has a nice view from his window. Staff appears to be very conscientious. He likes the food and the regular schedule. There are a lot of activities available for occupying the day.
Very nice! Went to visit a friend. She loves the place.
Awesome facilities and staf
My mother in law spent 6 weeks here. She was very happy and really enjoyed her stay! To quote her "It's such a wonderful place" When we were helping her to apply and get situated the staff was awesome. Dianna , Nancy and all the wonderful care givers a big warm THANK YOU!
Our family found The Brook of Newaygo experience for our dad very pleasant and worry-free. The meal portions were more than sufficient and I found them appealing, and good as did my father.I’m grateful for The Brook and their staff and highly recommend them.....S. Commons
The staff are caring and kind and willing to go the extra mile to give excellent care.
Just for some balance: my mother has been at The Brook for a little over a month, and I/she couldn't be happier with the staff, the food, and how she is treated. She too has memory issues but the staff have treated her respectfully and patiently. From what I have seen so far, I highly recommend this facility.
