TESTIMONIALS

“Somehow saying thank you just doesn’t seem like enough, especially during these difficult times.
I remember years ago when The Roscommon Brook opened. While visiting my parents at the lake my mom, Betty Thomas, wanted to show me how nice it looked. We sat in the parking lot looking at this nice new building, mom looked at me and said “should your dad or I ever need care, this is where we would we like to be.” Fast forward to 2019, dad passed away 7 years ago. Mom was 93 and needed more care. I would love to have her near our family downstate but my heart remembered our conversation years ago in the Brook parking lot. Melissa and her team of caregivers are wonderful. William has helped mom with things we should do but unable to travel these past months. Each phone conversation ends with mom saying how she likes her apartment, enjoys the staff, likes watching the deer from her window and not to worry because she is happy. ❤️ Our family is grateful everyday for the caregivers at The Brook. Now, especially with the quarantine, I know everyone is doing their best. Please stay safe, we pray for Melissa and all the caregivers at all of The Brooks.”

Thank you from Betty’s grandchildren, great-grandchildren and us

My mother has been living at the Brook for over 5 years now. It has been a wonderful place for her! She has connected with many people from Roscommon and also made lots of new friends. The staff has been amazing and watch out for her every day. It is always very beautifully decorated and clean, no smell or dirty carpet. I would highly recommend The Brook of Roscommon to anyone who is looking for a great place to live in their latter years.

Recently my mom needed to be in an assisted living . My family and I were able to get mom into The Brook of Roscommon. The facilities were excellent. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. They did a great job of caring for my mom. She was 101. The Brook took good care of mom during he final days with Carlin medical and Hospice.I would recommend this facility to anyone who wants excellent care for themselves or a loved one.Linda Wilson

I wanted to put down in writing how pleased I am with the care my mother has been getting at the Brook Roscommon. There is a special employee there - Salve -who has my mother laughing and smiling as soon as she walks into her room. Every single employee there has been phenomenal! They all go above and beyond to stop and talk with me about how my mom is doing and what she has been up to during the week.I cannot express how much better I sleep knowing she is there, loved and taken care of.

Everything about this community is excellent. The setting and facilities are beautiful, and well-maintained. The communication with the medical staff is superb. The management is stellar. Most of all, the staff and management are skilled and compassionate. They genuinely want to work there and, more than that, have a great respect and affection for the residents. If there is a need for hospice care, Caroline, the Hospice provider, and the Brook work well together.A superb facility in every sense.

I was looking for a place for my 89 year old mother when I called The Brook of Roscommon. I spoke with the manager, Tammy, and she walked me through the whole process. I had no idea what it entailed to have my mother placed in assisted living. Tammy went out of her way, was very helpful, and made the situation so easy for me. There wasn't a studio apartment available, but Tammy was able to get my mom into an apartment right away, pending a studio becoming available. She didn't have to do that, but she did, and I can't thank her enough for making that happen. The apartment is impeccably clean, as is the entire building. The initial visit with the Nurse was done with much respect for my mother, who suffers with dementia, and can be difficult at times. I am very confident that my mom will be well cared for at The Brook.

My mother is a resident at The Brook in Roscommon. She has a host of issues that make it impossible for us to care for her at home. We chose The Brook in Roscommon as her caregiving site. What are the benefits of The Brook?1. I no longer worry if Mom has forgotten to take her long list of medications on time, or at all. The staff ensure she does.2. I no longer worry if Mom is eating well. She gets nutritious meals at The Brook, and can choose to either eat them in the large dining are with the other residents or have them in her room if she doesn't feel like going down.3. I no longer worry if Mom has had an accident when her phone isn't answered. I know she's probably either out and about the facility or sleeping. Staff check her frequently and engage her.4. The staff are observant of her behavior and overall health. When they notice things going a bit awry, they notify me and small medical issues don't become big ones.5. Her room is spacious and clean and comfortable. There's a small kitchen type area with a microwave and fridge and cupboards for in-room snacking when I bring her in goodies.6. Most importantly, the staff here are spectacular. I'd name names, but I'm afraid I'd forget someone and they're all worthy of recognition. The entire staff at Roscommon are warm and caring people. They put a lot of themselves into ensuring the residents feel valued and important. They take the time to do little things to make life better. They treat the residents like people, not product. From the smallest thing like holding Mom's hand as she crosses the tile floor near the entry to poking their nose in to say, "Hi," as they pass, they're good people.7. The advent of coronavirus wreaked havoc on activities I'm certain, but as the haze of the pandemic lifts, more and more activities are taking place that help to keep Mom and the other residents smiling.Caring for our elderly is not an inexpensive thing. I was surprised that despite its reputation in the area as one of the nicest of Assisted Living environs, costs here were among the lowest. Cable is available, free wi-fi, in-room phone, in-room AC...there's so many things here that make you comfortable about trusting them with your family.I grew up with very negative views of Assisted Living environments because I equated them with the worst nursing home stereotypes. No more. The Brook and their staff have changed that completely. I trust them with my Mom. It's a clean, well run facility with a staff of good and decent people.

The Brook of Roscommon is a wonderful example of caregiving. We began our journey to locate a safe residence for our mother last year. Melissa did everything possible to help us meet our timeline. Mom moved temporarily to the Houghton Lake Brook with Pam. They were all so kind & caring. Mom always said she wanted to live at The Roscommon Brook when it was time to leave her house. Soon an apartment was available, we moved mom. We were helped every step of the way. Everyone has gone out of their way to care for mom. Friendly caregivers; mom is very happy, safe & content. This care has eased my worries. There is no place like the Brook. These past 4 months with a quarantine has been very difficult for all but the team at the Brook provides loving care just like a real family. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. We appreciate everything you do.

The staff at the Brook of Roscommon are the nicest people you'll meet. My mother was in Assisted Living in Troy MI for 4 years before I moved her to the Brook. The care she received up north far exceeded the care she received for more money down state. She loved how well taken care of she was. She passed recently and they were wonderful to us before, during and after her transition too. Thank you all for giving her a wonderful last year of her life.
